I started to play chess in mid-December 2013. After playing around with my friends and on SocialChess for a few months pretty much aimlessly, I started playing blitz around march 2014, and for the time being that is what I have done the most. Mind my newbieness when requesting a game, as I will not put up the greatest of competition against more seasoned players. However, I am eager to learn!
As many Norwegians I think I really got mye eyes up for chess when Magnus Carlsen played against Vishy Anand in the 2013 World Championship. The live commentary from the studio broadcasted on our state channel, showed me for the first time how fascinating chess is, especially in the abstract. Then, starting to learn how to go from that intuitive/preverbal acknowledgement of the abstract that I got familiar with last year, to the actual board, is challenging to say the least. Hopefully I will get there.
When on the subject of Magnus Carlsen, let me add that Norwegians most are very proud of Magnus' accomplishments in the World Championship and in chess in general, although it is shameful it took us this long to _really_ notice his achievements. A chess wave is riding Norway these days, though, and that is about time!
Outside of that, student, based in Oslo, been at the university for six years and I am now getting ready to start my career.
