This is a discussion club strictly about the Bible.

The Bible is important because is was given to us by God to tell us about himself and his plan for the world.

It tells of the nation of Israel who over hundreds of years looked towards the coming of the Messiah (the Christ) Jesus of Nazareth: who, as God the Son, came down to earth as human to die for our sins.

It calls us to respond by coming to God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

We have several active threads about the bible covering a range of topics.

In addition, every month a new pinned topic will be made to discuss a different chapter of the bible. (The frequency of this may be increased if club activity increases).

We also participate in chess events; including standard chess, custom positions, and chess960/Fischer Random.

Rules:

All posts and topics, if they are not about e.g. the rules of the club; must be about the bible or explicitly reference the bible.

Some topics outside of this may be very important, like prayer requests, advice about personal situations or general community togetherness. The best place for these are the Notes rather than the forum.

Party political discussions are also not to be included in the forums, even if they reference the bible. Obviously some parts of the bible have political implications, but there is no need to bring specific political figures/parties/policy decisions into it. Those can be divisive and bring focus to wildly-off-topic worldly issues rather than the bible itself. Also, too heavy an emphasis on political issues in Christian contexts can alienate non-Christians of opposing political persuasions from the gospel.

If we are restricting discussion to the bible, we do have to define what "the bible" means.

By "the bible" we mean the 66-book protestant canon. Non-protestants are still welcome of course, so long as you do not directly discuss the deuterocanon, except where it is potentially alluded to in the Protestant bible. You, can, however, discuss your views on the bible as a whole, including your views on the deuterocanon.
