I'm looking for the right words since some months but there are none. I'm feeling sarcasic and let out negativity in the team is wrong, I have to excuse if that went too far. - Some things come together and I have to handle them now to prevent such in future.

First my private situation. As I joined chess.com I had time, the world was quite ok. A job, my cat, and spare time = chess.com. Greedy to VC, and felt responsible for every game. 11 victories for ANL in a row - with a active team, and Wiktor as captain; he set the bigger course what ship to pirate next and I diagramed where to fire the cannons and where to enter. - Now, my mother had a stroke 1,5 years ago, a full "neglect" on the left side. my brother organized 99,9% of things, while I visited her in the weekends but wasn't --responsible-- for anything. I have to become adult (about time, I'm 51), and have to take over responsibility in real life.

Second, yet, I feel responsible for the VC games; sometimes one game takes hours and more time than the other games together. Every day and evening or night. If there is no solution yet, I look at one. Under 6 hours sleep each day; can't be good in the long run. It has to change.

Third, a captain needs a team. VC feels for some months, more and more, like Herd and me driving all the stuff alone. And I had writte this months ago, but few exceptions: FauzanUllah (got almost quiet in the meantime), Matthijsototb (YEP! admin now), friedhelm1960 (where is he? dived away in the meantime). blackfirestorm always there. tiggerttfn in PH new and greedy. But most just watch us play. Only at first glance a lot of exceptions, but they are not in the same games and I interchange PH and ANL free here; many common members.

Imagine admins were allowed to interfere in members' games and make moves. Of course we don't want - but before timeouts arise and we want to push our group to the next medal, we could check the team matches and make moves in the games just before TO. Some members will protest - Hey I was just thinking there. Others will thank us: I was ill 2 days, good you saved the game, I will play on again.
But still others... "uh now it gets complicated, I really have to think now... or resign. But let's wait, we have good admins here." Or even "I'm the coolest collector here... 1000 friends and groups, now 1000 team matches. I join everything... sometimes I even make moves."
Soon, team matches with 30 boards --> 3 members play their games, and we admins can play 27 boards. I guess that's not the idea. We organize team matches AND votechess for the members to play.

Fourth, we maybe have to accept: people have no time, no steady interest to be active. Many people are active a short time, few people a long time. Very few in such steadyness and push a positive outcome of things that I would call "responsible" - like Herd; SA in many groups, many games and VC active; PH and ANL only will have comsumed much energy in Virdi times.
But most are "normal" players, and we can be glad they join and play team matches without too many timeouts. VC is an appendix like 960 chess, puzzles, bughouse or whatever.

Fifth, it's me - 1. my VC obsession. Play as a team; not only alone at one board. Feel the group ANL and PH not just a label, you feel the team spirit the group - fighting for the best move. Not only move, explain why; persuade team members - find mistakes and mine are found. Always good to vote late and happy to vote for someone elses move after we found out it's the better one.
...That's the idea, and still have fun to captain PH and ANL: warn odd voters, remind of our basic rules, remove those who bring games in danger and destroy the game of the real team. I'm online many times a day - I shouldn't, and I have to change that (!), but still I do, being undisciplined... doing safety votes. Now that I'm writing this, we are having a game https://www.chess.com/votechess/game/144064 without other comments than mine and zero votes - they ALL are not interested, but don't destroy. At least one success.

Sixth, it's me again - being omnipresent over years, every move + every time a suggest, with reasonings and diagrams most, created a wrong attitude at members: "Let's wait for the Ork". Either because I have a move, or if they suggest something, I "always" spot errors and suggest another, maybe frustrating to some, so they wait first. I have to step back, give room to breathe.

Seventh, it's me again and Herd. I have to accept "step back" doesn't work. The only one steadily triggered is Herd, that wasn't the idea. I know you are overloaded. So I have to bring the VC topic up today. Using the naval metaphors again... Herd the SA as Fleet Admiral, me the captain for the single ships: where is the crew, how does it feel? I understand "voted, can be overruled." as not being really happy; I also had expressed the expect of others' suggestions in some games.

Enough for reasons; I have collected a bunch of games and situations, but anyone who follows the games knows how it is. So we have to talk here as admins.
